Bruche Academy Extension

This information page will be used to share regular updates and communication regarding the extension of Bruche Academy and the build of the secondary school.

We’re very pleased to announce that at the recent cabinet meeting of Warrington Borough Council, plans to build a new two-form entry secondary school at the Bruche Primary Academy site have been approved.

As you may have read in the local media, the total secondary school population is expected to swell significantly over the next six years, due to large primary school population moving into secondary schools, migration into Warrington and popularity with families living outside the borough.

Therefore, the development is vital to meet the borough’s rapidly expanding need for more secondary school places.

The development, which will cost up to £13 million allocated by Warrington Borough Council, will create 300 additional secondary places and see Bruche become an all-through 2-16 school.

The councillors also agreed an expansion of places at existing secondary schools across the borough.

The demolition of Bruche’s derelict infant block will free up the space required for the new two-storey building and we would like to reassure all parents and local residents that there will be a full and detailed consultation process on the development in the new year.

We look forward to sharing more details about these exciting plans in the new year.
